St. John Baptist de la Salle

St. Louis de Montfort Academy is very concerned with the personal formation of each student. In view of this, instruction is given to each regarding dress, speech, table manners, and Chivalrous treatment. A major tool in this instruction is The Rules of Christian Decorum and Civility by St. John Baptist de la Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers. In the Rules one finds powerful guiding principles that will mold the character of each student for a more perfect and complete formation. This forgotten work of St. John Baptist de la Salle was once a major tool in the formation of young men in the Christian Brother’s schools and many other institutions. St. Louis de Montfort Academy proudly utilizes and recommends these masterful insights of this great beacon of Christian Education.

“Christian decorum is, then, that wise and well-regulated conduct which governs what we do and say. It arises from sentiments of modesty, respect, union, and charity towards our neighbor.” (St. John Baptist de la Salle, The Rules of Christian Decorum and Civility)
